Gold-Modified Micellar Composites as Colorimetric Probes for the Determination of Low Molecular Weight Thiols in Biological Fluids Using Consumer Electronic Devices

چکیده

This work describes a new, low-cost and simple-to-use method for the determination of free biothiols in biological fluids. The developed utilizes interaction with gold ions, previously anchored on micellar assemblies through electrostatic interactions hydrophilic headgroup cationic surfactant micelles. Specifically, reaction AuCl4− cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) produces an intense orange coloration, due to ligand substitution Br− Cl− anions, followed by coordination AuBr4− anions micelle surface interactions. When are added solution, they complex ions disrupt AuBr4−–CTAB complex, quenching initial coloration inducing decrease light absorbance solution. Biothiols assessed monitoring their color RGB model, using flatbed scanner operating transmittance mode as inexpensive microtiter plate photometer. was applied determine biothiol content urine blood plasma samples, satisfactory recoveries (i.e., >67.3–123% external calibration 103.8–115% standard addition calibration) good reproducibility (RSD < 8.4%, n = 3).

A colorimetric method for the molecular weight determination of polyethylene glycol using gold nanoparticles

A gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-based colorimetric method was developed for the molecular weight (MW) determination of polyethylene glycol (PEG), a commonly used hydrophilic polymer. Addition of a salt solution to PEG-coated AuNP solutions helps in screening the electrostatic repulsion between nanoparticles and generating a color change of the solutions from wine red to blue in 10 min in accordance ...

Simple, sensitive and selective detection of dopamine using dithiobis(succinimidylpropionate)-modified gold nanoparticles as colorimetric probes.

In this paper, we report a simple, sensitive and selective colorimetric visualization of dopamine (DA) using dithiobis(succinimidylpropionate) (DSP)-modified gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as probes and ferric ions as cross-linkers. Via the standard amine coupling reaction between the amino groups of DA and activated carboxyl groups of DSP, DA molecules can be assembled onto the surface of DSP-AuNP...

Colorimetric Cu(2+) detection using DNA-modified gold-nanoparticle aggregates as probes and click chemistry.

Copper is a transition metal essential for life. At elevated concentrations, however, it is highly toxic to organisms such as algae, fungi and many bacteria, and in humans, may adversely affect the gastrointestinal, hepatic and renal systems.[1, 2] As such, the detection and measurement of copper ions in water has become increasingly important, especially in point-of-use formats. Several method...

Sensitive colorimetric visualization of perfluorinated compounds using poly(ethylene glycol) and perfluorinated thiols modified gold nanoparticles.

In this work, we have developed a novel sensing strategy employing mixed poly(ethylene glycol)-terminated (PEG-thiols) and perfluoroalkyl-terminated (F-thiols) alkanethiols modified gold nanoparticles (Au@PEG-F NPs) as a probe to detect perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) from water samples. PEG-thiols with high density and long carbon chains make the Au NPs probe well-dispersed in solution and sta...
